I started my Heavy Lift & Transport career back in 1993 with Mammoet Transport BV in the Netherlands and later with the Italian Fagioli PSC. In 2004 I moved to Aruba (Dutch Caribbean) with my family and accepted employment with ATCO a local heavy transport company, specialized in Caribbean island execution. In 2006 I founded The Works international and currently focus on running my business from Aruba.

The objective of The Works international is to offer Heavy Transport & Lift Training that covers every aspect associated with the execution of the project and to share and spread the knowledge to Heavy Transport & Lift service providers, clients, insurance companies, manufacturers, site supervisors and operational personnel etc. This industry has given me 2 decades of tremendous pleasure and experience on a scale beyond what I could have expected when I started. With my seminars I share my knowledge, giving something back to the industry and make it a safe(r) place to work.
A few years ago I authored a best selling textbook “The Art of heavy Transport” that comprises over 20 years of worldwide experience, it is currently in its 3rd reprint and has become an authority in its field. It is a reference guide and engineering base for all heavy transports executed by Hydraulic Platform transporters. It offers information, guidance, best practices and engineering principles in easy to understand English language. It contains hundreds of color pictures and case studies of actual executed transports that aid the understanding of the various subjects. It is also illustrated with many drawings that explain topics such as hydraulic oil flow, axle groupings and the principles of transporter stability.
My Heavy Transport & Lift project experience of over 20 years, on 5 continents and in over 55 countries have earned me a contributing membership with the ASME (American Society of Mechanical Engineers) in the P30 committee which sets the standards for the use of cranes and other lifting devices. A committee focusing on a transport standard is in the making.
I am also a member of the ESTA (European Association of Abnormal Road Transport and Mobile Cranes) task force that established and published the “Best Practice Guide” for Heavy Transport preparation and execution. Other members of the task force are Mammoet, Fagioli, Sarens, Goldhofer, Scheuerle, Collett & Sons and Shell.
Currently I am writing articles for the KHL group that are published in the “International Cranes and Specialized Transport” magazine. Every article highlights on a different topic and explains the background and theory behind it so that it can be applied in a safe way.
The Works international continues to strive for the best possible Training & Education to satisfy its clients to the fullest extend, in the name of safe and justified Heavy Transport & Lift execution.
